My name is Rachel Denham and I am the Badger class teacher and I share the role of deputy head. I have been teaching at Woodland since 2010 and joined the governing body 2 years later. I qualified as a Primary School Teacher in 1998 at the University of Northumbria at Newcastle.
Since then I have had the opportunity to work across the Primary age range in England and abroad as a class teacher and also in a leadership capacity. Having spent a large part of my childhood living in Woodland I feel I understand the role that the village school plays.
I thoroughly enjoy working with the children at Woodland, fostering their imagination and creativity whilst developing their social and academic abilities. I want to encourage the children to become independent in their learning and for them to recognise learning as a process which will continue throughout their lives.
I live in Staindrop with my husband and family. I enjoy cooking, walking and spending time with my family.
