We were lucky to have a visit from the Pop up Museum from Bishop Auckland Castle. The classroom was transformed into a mini museum complete with portraits of the Prince Bishops, artefacts, dressing up clothes and even a full size wooden throne. Both classes enjoyed workshops run by the staff from the castle. Squirrel and Owl classes dressed up as Prince Bishops, investigated and explored the artefacts, learnt about the inportance of Bishop Auckland and the role of the Prince Bishops in our local history and decorated their own mitres. Squirrel class listened to the story of Pollard and the Boar before making a collage boar and collaborating on words associated with Pollard or the Boar. The museum stayed in school overnight which allowed both classes to visit it again in the afternoon to choose their favourite portrait of a Prince Bishop and sketch it.
