On Thursday 27th April at St Mary’s Church in Woodland, we had a pretend christening for our baby doll, Charlotte Grace. First the Rev Claire talked to us about why and how people are christened. Rev Claire then drew the shape of a cross on the baby’s forehead with a special oil blessed by the Bishop of Durham, the cross is like a badge saying that they are a part of Gods family. The baby was then taken to the font and their head washed with warm water, this is a way of washing away all sins and that is why they wash Christians. We finished by singing a song to the baby and they were given a candle and a certificate.
We then went back in to school and enjoyed a slice of christening cake to celebrate!
