On 31st October 2017 we had a visit from some people representing a project called WE. They came into school to talk to us about how we can help others less fortunate than ourselves. We started the morning with a whole school assembly about a boy called Iqbal who worked in a carpet factory in India as a child labourer. He worked extremely long hours with no real reward and never saw his parents. Eventually he escaped and decided to raise awareness about child labour and the awful conditions that he had encountered.
Rob, Jacob and Leah from WE then did a workshop with the School Council and Play Leaders about how we as children can help change the world and help others. We played games that helped us understand the difficulties that others all over the world face. These included global issues such as homelessness, clean water shortage, poverty and famine. Together we began to organise a fundraising event and decided to raise money and awareness for Wateraid. After a vote it was decided to have a talent show! This will take place in the spring term.
