Squirrel Class 2015-2016

Welcome to Squirrel Class

acorn

We are Squirrell Class and we are a mixture of Reception, Year 1 and Pre-School. Our Teachers are Mrs Fletcher and Mrs Welsby. Mrs Murtagh and Mrs Keenan also works with us.

Find out more about Our Curriculum by downloading our maps and timetables.

Spring Topics

Our topic is Ingenious Inventions and we started the topic off with looking at the inventors in “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang”. Throughout the rest of the term we will be imagining life without all of the modern day inventions. We will be inviting parent and grandparents in to talk about inventions which have happened in their lifetime. Then we will learn about some important inventions through research on the computer, books and a whole school trip to Shildon Railway museum. In addition the children are going to learn the skills necessary to design, make and evaluate their own inventions.

Sam and Karen, a couple of our parents, came in to show us some old household objects. The children in squirrel class enjoyed being able to hold them and have a go. We talked about the difference between the old objects and what we have now.

Autumn Topics

This Autumn our topic is ‘Magic’ and all things magical!
